  • Godchaux Says He Will Visit OSU This Summer

    20 May 2013 | 6:51 pm
A really talented defensive lineman is always in vogue to add to a recruiting class. Plaquemine, La., defensive lineman Davon Godchaux is a real prize because the two-sport athlete who is also a standout in hoops is athletic enough to play defensive end, but at 6-4, 270 pounds is big enough to play inside. He may grow into a defensive tackle and still be athletic.

  • SEC Preseason Review: South Carolina

    Andrew Hines
    20 May 2013 | 1:36 pm
Hide Advertisement:  Hide Advertisement South Carolina’s bid to win the SEC East last season was brutally ripped away during their trip to Gainesville. The Florida Gators blew out the Gamecocks 44-11 in what was a bit of a shock to the football world. Earlier in the year the Cocks soundly beat Georgia 35-7, taking an early lead in the East standings and making a major statement to the rest of the SEC. South Carolina is still in search of its first SEC Championship and with a favorable schedule could very well make a run at Atlanta at the end of 2013 football season. Key Returners…

Hide Advertisement:  Hide Advertisement   The SEC baseball regular season has come to an end. As Gator fans we are a little disappointed in the result of the 2013 season. Very high expectations were placed on this young and somewhat inexperienced squad. The Gators finished the regular season with a 29-27 record, (14-16 SEC) and have earned the 8th seed in the tournament of 12. The 2013 SEC tournament is held in Hoover, Alabama at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. Just like in football, the SEC has the best baseball conference in the country. The field is very deep, and really any team…

Miami QB Stephen Morris Showed Off in Spurts in 2012; Can He Put it All Together as a Senior? It was  good year for Florida State football. The Seminoles got a taste of the glory days for the program by winning an ACC title and a victory in a BCS bowl game, even if it was against BCS buster Northern Illinois in the Orange Bowl. The Seminoles fell a little short of my preseason expectations in 2012 but I feel they might be capable of another run through the ACC this upcoming season, which kicks off in Pittsburgh against a new conference foe in week one. We now know what the celebratory and honorary bling that accompanies these milestone victories look like, thanks to some nice CAD…

The Beef ‘O Brady’s Bowl takes place in Tropicana Field, home of baseball’s Tampa Bay Rays. The relatively new Pinstripe Bowl takes place inside the newer Yankee Stadium, which also hosts an occasional game during the regular season as well. Before you continue reading, please keep this disclaimer in mind. In no way is this the start of a rumor or citing obscure anonymous sources. This is pure speculation and hypothetical thinking on my part. Now that I have cleared that up with you, let's continue. Penn State's 2014 Big Ten conference schedule was released earlier today. As you have probably seen by now, Penn State has one schedule hole to fill next season and the available weeks to work with are not exactly the most friendly. Penn State has two open weeks in October and another in November to work with. So, how will one…

Quotes coming out of both schools have suggested there is a chance we could see the series continue beyond the 2019 game, the fourth in the four-game series already under contract. • Dwyane Wade surprises teen by appearing at her prom (NBA)

    martyfnemec
    20 May 2013 | 9:20 am
Follow @martyfnemec There are many ways to take an adult basketball player going to a high school prom, but I think in this context, it was a very cool thing of Miami guard Dwyane Wade to do. This girl had asked Wade to go to her prom as her date in a Youtube video, obviously not expecting anything to come of it. He proceeded to actually call her, but say that he regrettably could not attend the event. She still was happy he even called her, but then Wade walked through the front door, shocking everyone at the prom. Celebrities rarely interact with fans, and understandably so, but Wade went…
  • What the Knicks need to do to beat the Pacers, by the numbers (NBA)(POLL included)

    18 May 2013 | 3:28 pm
Follow @martyfnemec The Knicks are on the edge of elimination and while it is tough to predict the winner of a game, trends and statistics can be used to guess. Obviously there are things on the Pacers’ side that affect the game like George Hill’s absence among other things. I will be focusing on the Knicks. The Knicks have started Carmelo Anthony, Iman Shumpert, Tyson Chandler, and Raymond Felton in every game during the series against the Pacers and alternated the fifth starter. I have calculated the points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, field goal percentage, and shot…

Sergio Garcia’s feud with Tiger Woods was well-documented, as well as his fall from grace on the 17th hole. Tiger Woods smiles as the champion of the Players Championship.

Follow @martyfnemec Denver’s back was against the wall and it looked like it was going to be eliminated by Stephen Curry and the red-hot Golden State Warriors. This player stepped up to make that not happen. Andre Iguodala, Denver Nuggets 25 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block Andre Iguodala was a force to be reckoned with as he helped the Denver Nuggets fight off elimination in a 107-100 win over the Golden State Warriors. • Carlos Delfino posterizes Kevin Durant (NBA)

    martyfnemec
    30 Apr 2013 | 6:56 pm
Follow @martyfnemec Normally Thunder forward Kevin Durant is on the giving end of posterizing dunks, but the roles were reversed in Game 4 when the Oklahoma City Thunder played the Houston Rockets. Rockets forward/guard Carlos Delfino stole the ball and ran for a fastbreak dunk. As he jumped, Durant jumped to meet him and ended up getting dunked on, an action which sent the Houston fans into an uproar. The Rockets ended up winning 105-103. -Marty F. Nemec
