    The Notre Dame women's soccer team was pushed to overtime but beat St. John's 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2009 BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship on Friday night. Sophomore Jessica Schuveiller scored the golden goal with 1:12 left in the first overtime and sent the Irish team pouring onto the field in celebration. With the win the Irish advance to the title game of the BIG EAST Championship and will face Marquette at Noon on Sunday, Nov. 8.

The more stupid situations like this that go down, the less ground you have to stand on.  This whole amateurism thing can't last forever, and you have to realize that, right? Right? Find a smart way to abandon it and maybe, maaaaaaaaaaybe when the reckoning comes for your organization, it can retain some reasonable scraps of power and carve out a more limited, focused, meaningful purpose more in line with reality. But you have to wake up first.

    Week 10 was not the most stellar week for the One Sentence Predictions as we went a very mediocre 20-12. We had a strong showing all around but the putrid Big East and its unpredictability brought the losing up to the standard 62.5% that we continue to hover around. With a week one percentage point lower than the 63.5% we entered with our season total is now at 60-35 or 63.2%; still not horrible. I rebounded to 3-2 in my league, the ACC so that was a positive. High receiver/cornerback Tejay Johnson, and Scarlet Knights coach Greg Schiano broke out the helicopter to go and see him play at Hammonton (N.J.) High. After the game, the speedy Johnson, who is the state 100 meter champ, said he will take an official visit to Rutgers the weekend of Dec. 12.
