The 2015 NFL Scouting Combine rolled along Sunday with workouts for defensive linemen and linebackers. Each of the nine Pac-12 schools with a player in Indianapolis was represented on Day 3, including some of the conference's biggest and baddest players like Leonard Williams and Danny Shelton. Most pundits expect the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to select a quarterback (that Marcus Mariota guy is pretty good) with the No. 1 overall pick, but the Bucs might want to take a long look at Leonard Williams. The former USC defensive lineman, who measured in at 6-foot-4, 302 pounds, drew rave reviews…

But Mariota wasn't the only Pac-12 signal-caller who took part in the action. The Cougars were extremely short-handed at quarterback for spring practices due to injuries when Jason Beck had the idea of bringing Stewart back. He started eight games in 2014 after Taysom Hill broke his leg in the fifth game of the season, so Stewart was only months removed from his playing career.

  • Alabama Recruiting Roundup – By: Kevin Paul

    Administrator
    2 Mar 2015 | 8:17 am
It’s happened for two years in a row now. Alabama football loses a very winnable game in the Sugar Bowl and questions arise about the future of the program. Is there finally a chink in Nick Saban’s armor? Should Kirby Smart look for another job? Has the rest of college football finally caught up to the Crimson Tide? While some Alabama fans (myself included) will scream “YES!” to all three of these questions, there has been but one constant in both the classes of 2014 and 2015: Alabama addresses their needs. After not having much of a pass rush in 2013 (and getting mauled by…

Rewind to August of 2014 in Columbia, SC. The calendar is about to turn and the smell of fall is in the air. To complement, the Gamecocks are sitting at #9 in the pre-season AP poll, picked almost unanimously to finish 1st in the SEC East. Soon after, Texas A&M takes Columbia by storm and quickly gives the coaching staff reason for heavy concern after a 52-28 opening weekend drubbing. The scrappy Gamecocks rallied for big wins against East Carolina and SEC Rival Georgia, but the wheels seemed to fall off shortly after. 4 Mar 2015 | 12:22 pm
By all accounts it appears as though Penn State is currently in position to be able to offer the largest player stipends once Big Ten programs begin handing out stipends to scholarship athletes this year. If the numbers hold firm, then Penn State’s coaching staff will figure to have a legitimate recruiting advantage in one particular area, but that could be a minor concern that will need to be addressed. David Jones of The Patriot News shared the projected stipend numbers each Big Ten member could feasibly be preparing to hand out to student-athletes later this year. According to the…

Over on The Student Section today the focus is on Big Ten quarterbacks. Here is what was said about Penn State and Christian Hackenberg; Let’s put it this way … if Burger King dropped the Whopper, it would be the equal of Penn State losing Christian Hackenberg. He’s a top-shelf NFL prospect who is backed up by a host of freshmen. PSU would be well advised to do everything it can to keep him upright, because sans him, you’re reaching into the fridge with the lights off hoping to pull out something edible. With the Big Ten preparing to allow schools to hand out stipends to student-athletes to cover financial obligations not covered under a scholarship, it looks like Penn State could be gaining a nice little recruiting advantage. When do you say; "I don't have it anymore, I'm ready to retire?"...IF you are Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning, it's apparently not this year.Reports out of Denver say the team and the legendary Quarterback have agreed on a $4 million pay cut for Peyton to stay with the team for 2015.Manning and the Broncos did not finish 2014 on a good note. John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports by: OSGPhil/@osgphilWell if you placed a bet  that Florida Panthers goalie coach Robb Tallas would suit up in play in Tuesday nights game versus Toronto, you likely are rich today.Because that actually happened. Tallas became the teams "Emergency Goaltender" during Toronto's 3-2 win in Florida after starting goalie Roberto Luongo and backup Al Montoya got hurt during the game. The NHL allows for the "Emergency Goaltender" as someone who can function in that position if both listed goalies are "Incapacitated".
